Senior Development & Regeneration Manager
MB2 (£59,395 £67,990)
37 Hours, Full Time
Permanent, Hybrid: Stopford House and homeworking (3 days in office)
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Development and Regeneration Manager to lead the delivery of Stockport’s ambitious regeneration and development programme. This key role within the Development and Regeneration team will handle complex projects for the Council and the Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) from inception to delivery, secure investment, manage strategic partnerships and drive schemes that support the Council’s growth and place‑shaping priorities.
Stockport is undergoing a period of significant growth and transformation, with major investment and a strong pipeline of regeneration and development activity across the borough. From town centre regeneration and mixed‑use development to public realm and environmental improvement schemes, this role offers the opportunity to shape projects that will create new homes, jobs and sustainable places for our communities.
You will lead a varied programme of regeneration and development projects for the Council and the MDC, acting as client lead and working closely with internal services, consultants, developers, investors, landowners and strategic partners. You will oversee projects through all stages of development and delivery, managing programme, budget, risk and quality, while preparing business cases, briefs, reports and presentations to support decision‑making and secure successful outcomes.
At Stockport Council, we are one ambitious team on a mission to create opportunities for everyone who lives, works and spends time in the borough. We are proud to be recognised under the Good Employment Charter as an organisation committed to the wellbeing of our colleagues.
We pledge to pay the real living wage, engage staff in key decisions and endorse fair and flexible working conditions. We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce culture and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
We want our employees to have a good work life balance and, in many job roles, we can offer a range of flexible or hybrid working arrangements. We also have inclusive employment policies and staff engagement forums to support our diverse workforce.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a senior role at the heart of one of the North West’s most ambitious regeneration programmes. You will lead high‑profile projects for the Council and the Mayoral Development Corporation, work with senior decision‑makers and partners, and help shape places that create new homes, jobs and lasting benefits for residents, businesses and communities across the borough.
Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence, but this campaign does not currently qualify.
We have made a commitment to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities, care leavers and ex‑military personnel. As part of the Guaranteed Assessment Scheme, you will therefore be guaranteed to be shortlisted for assessment if you meet both the criteria for the scheme and the essential job‑role criteria.
If you would like to find out more about the role, please contact Jude Barker at jude.barker@stockport.gov.uk or on 07356 145495 for an informal discussion about the role.
