Eden Scott has been retained by Mentholatum to appoint a Director of Operations. As part of the UK leadership team, you will have overall responsibility for the operational heartbeat of their East Kilbride facility. This is a pivotal role where you will shape strategy, drive performance, and lead a talented team to manufacture and deliver world‑class over‑the‑counter medicines.
Reporting to the Managing Director, based in South Africa, you will have overall site responsibility and autonomy to lead the UK operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Formulate and execute operational strategies that align with Mentholatum’s vision and long‑term goals.
* Deputy to the MD: Act as on‑site deputy for the Managing Director on all operational and people matters, ensuring continuity and stability.
* Operational Excellence: Oversee production and engineering functions, ensuring compliance with GMP, health & safety, and environmental standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Champion lean manufacturing principles and foster a culture of efficiency, agility, and innovation.
* People Development: Inspire and develop your team through coaching, feedback, and succession planning, creating a high‑performance culture.
* Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment and deliver on company‑wide objectives.
* Commercial Competitiveness: Ensure the factory remains commercially competitive by implementing changes and improvements to keep the cost of goods under control.
Experience Required:
* Senior level operations experience, ideally within GMP manufacturing.
* Proven success in implementing world‑class or lean manufacturing systems.
* A commercially astute leader who can contribute to strategic and commercial decisions across the company.
* A strong, empathetic leader who can motivate teams and lead change effectively.
* Understanding of GMP, health & safety, and environmental compliance.
* Graduate in a technical or engineering discipline, ideally with a post‑graduate management qualification.
