Our engineering teams, located in New Malden, UK, and Hamburg, Germany, work closely together to develop and maintain a wide range of navigation products, with an ambitious roadmap for future innovations.
We are currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Engineering Department in New Malden. This role will play a key part in our radar sensor development team, focusing on firmware and embedded software development for maritime navigation systems.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Work in the Hardware team to develop firmware on SoC platforms for new and existing products.
2. To take ownership and responsibility for current and future design for developed SoC platforms going forwards.
3. Collaborate closely with the Embedded Software and System Test teams during system integration activities.
4. Maintain and improve FPGA development processes, workflows, and tools.
5. Work autonomously in a focused, agile team, contributing high-quality results from the outset.
About You
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong technical foundation. Ideal candidates will have:
6. Deep understanding of System on Chip (SoC) based design and build environment.
7. A prerequisite of HDL coding and test benching (VHDL, Verilog).
8. Software languages, C (or C++) is preferable, additional languages considered useful.
9. Knowledge of one or more of Bash, TCL, or Python
10. Should be confident understanding and capturing requirements in order to develop solutions.Capable of creating technical documentation to a professional standard
11. Experience with Vivado is required and Xilinx (AMD) preferred
12. Familiarity with any other FPGA vendors' tools is a positive.
13. Peripheral buses, I2C, SPI.
14. AXI bus interconnect.
15. Experience with memory interfaces, SDRAM and/or DDR.
16. Knowledge of: Synchronous design, Finite state machines (FSMs), ADCs, DACs, FIFOs, DSP, data streaming, pipelining.
17. Asynchronous interfaces
18. Experience with Linux operating systems
19. TCP/IP, UTP, CAT240 (Asterix), Networking Protocols
20. Knowledge of device tree and device drivers
Desirable Knowledge:
21. Familiarity with RF transceivers.
22. Prior experience with radar systems.
