About the Department:
The Vehicle performance group is responsible for operating the cars at the track and delivering the maximum performance of the package we have. The group looks after all the preparation before events, operation at the track and the post event analysis.
Role Overview:
As a Vehicle Performance – Industrial Placement, you will be at the heart of our Vehicle Performance team, where you’ll play a critical role in providing analytics and support to the various functions of the group including race engineering, drivers, strategy and tyre performance. This role offers a rare opportunity to be involved in the world of Formula 1 from an early stage in your career. The postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to the operation of our F1 cars, working closely with the various disciplines within the Vehicle performance group and our drivers. This role offers the ability to develop your analytical thinking, data analysis and communication skills in this face paced but very rewarding environment.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Vehicle Performance Industrial Placement at Williams, you will provide:
* Support of trackside events including FIA Formula 1 championship races.
* Numerical and Statistical analysis of data.
* Reporting on and cataloguing of data.
* Development and support of existing tools and models.
* Research and implement new techniques for future development.
* Support engineering activities of Academy Drivers.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have:
* Creative, proactive approach to problem-solving
* Strong attention to detail
* Collaborative outlook with good communication and organization skills
* Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, Mathematics, Computing, or Physics
* Experience with numerical and statistical methodologies and their applications
* Logical approach to research, problem-solving, and reporting
* Desirable skills:
* Experience with C++
* Experience with C#
