Linen Services Assistant

This is a challenging but rewarding job role and there's no doubt that will need motivated, enthusiastic team players, who are willing to work hard within a strong team, to provide a KEY service within the hospital for both staff and patients.


Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing an efficient and comprehensive linen service to all wards, departments, and staff within the Trust, ensuring that agreed quality standards are consistently achieved and maintained. This involves accurately counting, packing, and distributing clean linen to the hospital wards. You will be expected to demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism and be able to work independently or as part of a team to deliver the service effectively. You may also be required to provide cover at Chorley and District General Hospital. At all times, you must act in a manner that upholds the Trust's values, promoting efficiency and excellent customer care.

Job responsibilities

* Communicate verbally with the Linen team and colleagues by phone and through written procedures, ensuring an effective exchange of information regarding Linen tasks and service needs.
* Communicate with a range of clinical and non-clinical staff, patients, and visitors to understand patient needs and other requirements regarding Linen duties.
* Identify and act upon any potential risks or hazards within the working environment.
* Maintain and develop own competence for the Linen role.


Person Specification


Qualifications and Education

* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
* Educated to GCSE Grade A-C level or equivalent.


Knowledge and Experience

* Good understanding of work within hospital linen services.
* Understanding of Infection Control within a healthcare setting.
* Understanding of Health and Safety / Moving and Handling.
* Previous recent linen or laundry services experience.
* Previous recent experience involving customer service/Quality Control.
