Practice Accountant

Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Chartered Accountancy Practice is seeking a technically capable accountant to join their expanding team. The Role
Working closely with the existing accounts team, you will manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing a range of accounting, taxation and compliance services. This is a hands-on role offering excellent variety and the opportunity to build strong client relationships while supporting businesses across a range of sectors.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparation of statutory accounts to review stage
* Preparation of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD)
* Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
* Resolving client queries and providing ongoing support
* Identifying and researching technical accounting and tax issues
* Assisting with ad hoc client projects and assignments
* Supporting and collaborating with colleagues across the practice
About You
The successful candidate will have experience working within an accountancy practice environment and be confident managing a varied workload with minimal supervision.
You will ideally have:
* AAT Level 4 qualified or ACA/ACCA qualified/part-qualified
* Previous experience within an accountancy practice
* Strong knowledge and practical experience of Xero software
* Experience preparing accounts and tax returns to review stage
* Sound understanding of VAT and compliance requirements
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
* The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Experience with payroll and PAYE would be advantageous but is not essential.
