A leading specialist lender with a reputation for innovation and integrity, offering bespoke bridging solutions to brokers and borrowers; with strong funding lines and a rapidly expanding loan book, is now looking to strengthen its underwriting team with a driven and detail-focused Bridging Underwriter.
Bridging Underwriter, The Role
As a Bridging Underwriter, you'll play a crucial role in assessing and approving short-term loan applications secured on residential and commercial property. You’ll be responsible for managing cases from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring that all loans are underwritten in line with risk appetite, policy, and regulatory standards.
Bridging Underwriter Key Responsibilities
* Underwrite bridging loan applications from start to finish within agreed SLAs.
* Conduct detailed risk assessments on borrowers, assets, and exit strategies.
* Review valuations, credit reports, legal documents, and KYC/AML data.
* Liaise with brokers, solicitors, valuers, and internal teams to facilitate completions.
* Make sound credit decisions and present cases to credit committee where required.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure full compliance with lending policy and regulation.
Bridging Underwriter, About You
* 2+ years of experience underwriting bridging loans or similar property-backed lending.
* Strong understanding of UK property markets and lending risk.
* Able to analyse complex credit and legal documentation.
* Excellent attention to detail and confident decision-maker.
* Proactive communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
