Atlas the Bakery are hiring a chef
Firstly ... Experience working as a chef in a fast paced cafe, restaurant or bakery kitchen is essential. We're looking for a strong chef who is happy to work with a team and also run the kitchen independently when needed.
Were looking for someone who ...
Has a passion for food. We're a small independent bakery and cafe. We make banging bread. We have a varied and constantly changing menu alongside the bakery bits that runs with the seasons and our general ethos on food rather than a particular cuisine. We want someone to be able to put some love into what they create and be proud of it. We make almost everything from scratch - so were looking for someone who has the skill, drive and creativity to put new, exciting dishes on the menu whilst ensuring the current standard stays high. Cutting corners isn't an option.
Someone who is organised, clean and tidy. We have a small kitchen in which we produce a lot of food and baked goods, so using the space effectively is essential.
Ideally has a food hygiene certificate - it illustrates to us that you have at least completed some training in regards to complying with food health and safety laws
Is happy to get stuck in where is needed. It's a small, close knit team of great people. We're here to do something we love and have a laugh whilst doing it. We have each others backs and want to bring in somebody who can get on board with that ethos and bring more good energy to the place. No job is beneath anybody. No individual makes the place run by themselves - it's the team that makes it work. It's what makes the place a fun place to be as a member of staff and that reflects on the customer experience.
Someone who has a keen eye for stock levels. We have a few storage options, but we can't order pallets on pallets of stock, so someone who has experience with ordering for a menu alongside stock control and rotation would be great. We order every day from local suppliers, but we would be open to candidates to bring their own ideas to the table too
Someone with a positive, calm, organised and can-do attitude. We have quieter spells when we crack on with prep or cleaning- there's always something to do. We also have plenty of busy spells, and we need someone who can realise when its go time. Head down and crack on, maintaining standards and speed.
Ultimately, we are a small, independent bakery and eatery. We make great bread and have a menu alongside it that we're proud of. We like to roll with the seasons and use the best quality we can. We want someone who is happy to come in, have drive and passion, has a mindset that is inline with our ethos when it comes to the Bakery and food in general and maintain high standards. We have a fun, dynamic and varied team who are very open minded and we're looking for someone to join us.
It's a fun job, the kitchen is open Tuesday to Saturday. We are looking for full time candidates but part time (3/4 days a week) would also be considered for the right person. But again, weekend availability is a must.
The position is available now, but we are happy to discuss timelines with the right candidate.
