At Autism Early Support, we are dedicated to providing individualised support to autistic children and their families. Our neuroaffirming practice ensures that we respect and celebrate neurodiversity in all our services.
The Role
Working closely with our Outreach Services Lead and Head of Children's Services, this part-time paediatric therapist role involves individualised support to children, families and education settings. It involves the development and delivery of information and training through different formats to families, carers and professionals working with autistic children.
Experienced in:
* Working with a caseload of children aged 2-17 years
* Carrying out dynamic assessments and writing reports that are timely, neurodiversity affirming and that adhere to HCPC and RCSLT guidelines
* Training, teaching and coaching others to enhance their knowledge and practical application of tools and strategies - both online and face to face
* Liaising with and providing direct support to children, parents, teachers and practitioners
* Actively listening to client needs and responding with bespoke needs-led programmes and solutions
* Creating engaging learning resources for different audiences
* Working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Essential skills:
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* Registered with and adheres to Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards.
* Substantial experience working with young children who have sensory and communication differences
* Experience carrying out a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments
* Knowledge and continued development of neurodiversity affirming practice and the neurodiversity paradigm.
* Experience of writing contributions for Education, Health and Care Plans
* Comply with the principles and practice of data protection, confidentiality, safeguarding children, HCPC code of conduct and SEN code of practice
* Competent using ICT

Key Responsibilities
Individualised Assessment and Support
* Actively listen to and reflect on the needs and views of people who access services to provide needs-led solutions
* Carry out dynamic assessment of children's communication and interaction differences that are neurodivergent informed
* Write and distribute quality reports in a timely manner
* Liaise and collaborate with professionals involved with the child as appropriate
* Develop support programs through collaboration with families and professionals involved
* Engage with schools to respond to their brief with the creation of bespoke solutions and programmes of support
* Design, deliver and monitor programmes of support in schools to include workshops, clinics and 1:1s with staff and parents
* Help ensure robust processes are in place for monitoring & evaluation
Resource Development
* Create high-quality, accessible resources for families that include information and practical application of strategies using different formats and platforms (e.g. written material or video).
* Critique and review currently available resources to ensure they align with neurodivergent informed research.
* Helping to support the development of resources by actively listening to and reflecting on feedback from children, their families and professionals working alongside them
* Collaborate and work alongside families, neurodivergent advocates and colleagues as needed
Training
* Design and deliver engaging training materials for families and professionals
* Ensure content is accessible according to the needs of people accessing the training
* Proactively identify development opportunities and needs within the service
