Overview
Croydon. 36.5 hours per week: Mon‑Thu and Fri. Salary range £52,000 to £55,000 basic, plus up to 8% salary bonus, pension, life assurance, dental health scheme, medical cover, cycle to work scheme.
Mechanical Engineer role supported by a well-established manufacturer.
Responsibilities
* Support the business from a hands‑on engineering perspective: BoM checks and sign‑offs, condition assessments, job pack creation, engineering changes, concessions, preparation for overhaul projects and FAIs, fault investigation and diagnosis, warranty claim investigation, problem solving, creating method statements, component overhaul instructions, test procedures, material analysis, report compilation and reviewing, design tooling, etc.
* Manage warranty investigations: conduct investigations, interact with customers and suppliers, write investigation reports, draw conclusions on failures, recommend follow‑up actions, ensure actions are implemented.
* Produce technical reports in accordance with company or client requirements.
* Create engineering change and concession/production permit requests as required; manage documents to conclusion.
* Support internal customers – Sales, Projects, Production, Purchasing, Operations, Shop Floor, Quality, etc.
Qualifications
* Minimum HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanically biased engineering discipline.
* Hands‑on engineering experience with a balance of general engineering, testing, problem solving, technical process writing (method statements, overhaul instructions), condition assessments, technical investigations, task management.
* Knowledge of various industries such as Mobility (Rail and Marine), Power, Oil and Gas or industrial sectors.
* Knowledge of mechanical driveline and connecting products and systems (gearboxes, cardan shafts, highly flexible couplings, rail couplers, cooler groups, marine drives, etc.) is advantageous but not essential.
* Knowledge of BS 8888 technical product documentation and specification and ISO (or equivalent).
