We value a diverse workforce that embraces difference and welcomes all community members. We are seeking Senior Project Managers to lead and deliver innovative projects that reduce flood risk and enhance the natural environment across the South-East.
Responsibilities
* Lead the full project lifecycle – from early strategic planning and feasibility through detailed design, construction and final handover.
* Act as Client Senior Project Manager or Project Executive, ensuring projects are delivered effectively, safely and in line with governance and assurance requirements.
* Mentor and support project team members, adapting leadership style to suit strengths and needs.
* Foster a positive, collaborative working environment and build strong relationships with suppliers, technical specialists, client representatives and delivery partners.
* Use commercial awareness and understanding of contract and risk management to drive efficient, value-focused delivery.
* Make informed decisions based on technical advice while ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational procedures.
* Develop and maintain productive relationships with statutory authorities, landowners, local communities and other partners.
* Negotiate agreements, secure consents and approvals, and help obtain external funding when required.
* Participate in incident response duties when required.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, environmental or geography-related discipline.
* Significant experience in formal project delivery and contract management, ideally in engineering, environmental, construction or flood and coastal risk management.
* Technical expertise in hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.
* Proven track record of delivering technically challenging projects through effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in the Project Executive role, including mentoring and supporting teams through successful delivery.
* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
* Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
* Chartered, or working towards chartered status, with a relevant professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP.
