Job Title: Electronic Engineer
Role Overview:
This position focuses on engaging with stakeholders, capturing requirements, and developing low-cost, high-reliability electronics for both current and future platforms, as well as internal prototypes and test equipment. The role requires expertise in power, analog, and embedded electronics, with a particular interest in embedded system design. The role plays a key part in the development and enhancement of Electric platforms, requiring a proactive and adaptable candidate. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to contribute to electronic system architecture design, system maturity, process improvements, and the promotion of best engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop low-cost, high-reliability electronics for moderate-volume markets, covering the entire engineering lifecycle.
2. Design, analyse, and verify electronics for consumer products, internal prototypes, and test equipment.
3. Support technical development and provide assistance to team members and external stakeholders as needed.
4. Focus on improvements and quality across all aspects of electronics, including policies, processes, and detailed designs.
5. Collaborate with Systems and Software engineers to define requirements, design architectures, resolve complex issues, and integrate software with hardware.
6. Assist manufacturers with the development of test equipment for electronic product lines, including end-of-line testers.
Essential Skills:
7. Experience in product lifecycle design and support within an electronics team.
8. Ability to prepare and present electronic designs and concepts to colleagues, management, and other stakeholders.
9. Proficient in creating detailed drawings, schematics, and models using computer-aided design software.
10. Experience in reviewing and releasing drawings, including schematics, PCB capture, and assembly drawings for manufacturers.
11. Experience designing and building electronic components and circuits for product applications.
12. Basic understanding of software, with the ability to work with tools for flashing/debugging.
13. Ability to estimate costs for products and technical solutions.
14. Experience in performing set-to-work, verification, and validation activities, including simulations, worst-case analysis, and bench testing.
15. Proficiency in conducting effective testing and diagnostics leading to measurable product improvements.
16. General knowledge of EMC in the context of power electronics.
Desirable Skills:
17. Knowledge of 3-phase inverters, DC-DC converters, microcontrollers, and analog electronics is advantageous.
18. Experience with PCB layout design and design for manufacturing would be beneficial.
19. Familiarity with working in electronic manufacturing environments for moderate-volume commercial or automotive applications, including supplier interfacing.
20. Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, such as Requirements and Traceability.
21. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
22. Experience working to safety standards such as IEC61508, ISO26262.
23. Knowledge of selecting and specifying cables and connectors.
24. Understanding of batteries and electric machines is beneficial.
Education & Experience:
25. Degree in a related field (, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar).
26. Solid engineering or technical background demonstrated through relevant experience.
27. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role within R&D or commercial product design in electronics.
