Project Outreach Coordinator (Fixed Term)
The Department of Architecture is seeking a versatile and motivated Project Outreach Coordinator to support the implementation of the Public Map Platform Phase 2 – an exciting two‑year participatory research project working with local communities to develop digital community‑made maps of the region that will help foster sustainable behaviours. Our focus is on empowering children and young people to have a voice in planning.
Work will be off‑site, in the Cambridge Room or in community/educational spaces in Cambridgeshire, with occasional travel to the sister site in Anglesey.
The role involves the day‑to‑day running of mapping fieldwork across Cambridge and the region, building relationships with schools and community groups, managing a small team of community mappers, organising team ‘Mappenings’ in schools and the Cambridge Room, and supporting the research team in gathering data on impact. The post‑holder will work closely with researchers, mapping teams in Wales, and the Department of Architecture at the University of Cambridge.
This dynamic, fast‑paced project will rarely have a typical day, but requires someone who enjoys creating order in a busy and creative environment and can adapt quickly to changing situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a proactive approach, will make the diverse workload enjoyable and fulfilling.
The post‑holder will be working with children and young people; therefore an enhanced DBS check will be completed as part of the induction process and must be obtained.
