Overview
Job Plans are open to discussion and negotiation. The candidate must have a higher medical qualification (MRCP or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at the time of the interview. The role focuses on Hepatology with the option, if desired, to cover General Internal Medicine on a voluntary basis.
The post is with the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at York Hospital, with opportunities to join teams at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust supports flexible job plans to accommodate varied skill sets and working patterns; there are no mandatory commitments to General Medicine on-call service.

Responsibilities
* Hepatology outpatient clinics and engagement with the hepatology MDT.
* Elective endoscopy and on-call commitments including inpatient management of general Gastroenterology patients and out-of-hours GI bleed cover.
* Contribute to service development, with opportunities for clinical research and teaching.
* Maintain involvement with the Liver Transplantation Service through established links.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* MRCP or equivalent higher medical qualification.
* GMC Specialist Register for G(I)M and Gastroenterology, or be within twelve months of obtaining the CCT at interview.
* Strong clinical skills in hepatology; familiarity with service organisation and development is advantageous.
* Desirable: ability to cover General Internal Medicine on a voluntary basis.
Location and Department
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves approximately 800,000 people in York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale. The department runs a full MDT supported by clinical nurse specialists and links with Leeds Liver Transplantation Service. The York site features a 7-room endoscopy unit with advanced and subspecialist modalities including EUS and ERCP, and opportunities for research and undergraduate teaching through Hull and York Medical School.
