Our Children’s Outpatient Department is seeking a Principal Psychologist to lead psychological care within our Paediatric Diabetes Service and provide support to our small, dedicated team of psychologists. You will join a motivated, forward-thinking multidisciplinary team of consultants, nurses, AHPs, and administrative staff who are committed to delivering outstanding care for children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop innovative psychological services, building on the excellent work already in place. What we’re looking for: A highly skilled psychologist with expertise in paediatrics and a strong interest in diabetes care. A collaborative leader who can inspire and support colleagues across the service. Someone with passion, creativity, and enthusiasm to drive service development and improve patient experience. Advert Lead Specialist Clinical Care Provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for children and young people living with diabetes. Work closely with families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure compassionate, tailored, evidence-based care. Supervision, Training & MDT Support Offer expert consultation, teaching and reflective practice to the Paediatric Diabetes MDT. Help embed psychological thinking across the service, enhancing staff confidence and supporting trauma‑informed, family‑centred practice. Leadership & Line Management Line manage and clinically supervise psychologists within our Paediatric Psychology Department (currently three colleagues working across NICU, Paediatric Oncology, General Paediatrics and Tuberous Sclerosis). Provide supervision to trainee clinical psychologists and assistant psychologists. Service Development & Innovation Drive forward improvements in how paediatric psychological care is organised and delivered. Develop sustainable referral pathways, preventative models, and psychologically informed departmental policies. Contribute to service evaluation, quality improvement and ongoing strategic development.
