We are looking for Healthcare Support Workers to work in our Theatre departments at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
Southampton General Hospital – Centre Block Theatres
About the team:
* Specialise in Orthopaedics, Neuro, Paediatrics, ENT, Cardiac and mixed general surgical fields.
* Regional specialist centre performing many pioneering procedures.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist the surgical team during operations.
* Support the circulating role in theatre, ensuring smooth delivery of services.
* Help staff obtain functional skills level 2, level 3 healthcare, and progress to a Nursing or Operating Department Practitioner apprenticeship.
We offer a professional induction and in‑house training programme to help you reach your full potential.
We consider part‑time applications (minimum of 23 hours per week); however, applicants must be fully flexible to cover a variety of shifts including early, late, long days and nights, as services operate 24/7, 365 days a year.
Princess Anne Hospital – Obstetric & Gynaecology
About the team:
* Specialise in Obstetric & Gynaecology (benign & oncology services, fertility treatment) and breast surgeries.
* Work with a multi‑disciplinary team of nurses, Operating Department Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants.
* 4 operating theatres providing 24/7 emergency and elective services.
* Recovery and Day Surgery Unit with 6 recovery beds and 15 day‑surgery beds, open from 7:30 – 10 pm.
We’re recruiting HCAs across all theatre departments at UHS and will allocate you to your department after a successful interview.
Please note: This vacancy does not meet the Home Office threshold for sponsorship and requires candidates to complete a 9‑month training period.
