We are currently seeking a Construction Materials Technician to join our team.
As a Construction Materials Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in the quality assurance of quarrying and surfacing products. You will conduct onsite and offsite materials testing and update electronic records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test and sample aggregate, concrete, bituminous, unbound, and earthworks materials including grading analysis, binder content, and physical, chemical, and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities, and stockpiles.
3. Maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.
4. Follow company and accrediting bodies' quality procedures and protocols to maintain standards.
5. Record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
6. Calibrate testing equipment regularly.
7. Prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies.
8. Undertake daily laboratory equipment checks.
9. Investigate material-related complaints and provide feedback and evidence to support findings.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Previous experience in sampling and testing construction materials or transferable skills (full training provided).
* Awareness of safety on construction sites or production depots.
* Flexibility in working patterns.
* Physical ability to handle bulky materials.
* Capacity to operate mechanical equipment such as asphalt road coring drills.
* Hold a full driving license and capable of operating a small commercial van.
* Enjoy interacting with internal and external stakeholders and auditors.
* Ability to handle administrative paperwork.
* Planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently.
