Join Our Award Winning Practice as an Urban Designer or a Senior Urban Designer

As an Urban Designer/Senior Urban Designer, you will be a vital contributor to shaping the future of London's vibrant urban landscapes.

Who We Are

At PRP, we don't just design buildings; we shape communities and create lasting legacies. As a long established, interdisciplinary firm with over 100 prestigious awards to our name, our passion lies in delivering a full spectrum of design and building services, including masterplanning, urban design, landscape architecture, and development consultancy.

We believe in fostering an environment where every team member feels valued, connected, and empowered to contribute their best. Our culture is built on collaboration, mutual support, and a shared commitment to excellence both in our projects and in how we work together. We're a tight knit family across our studios, ensuring everyone feels part of the wider PRP team.

The Opportunity: Your Impact & What You'll Do

You will be at the forefront of crafting visionary urban landscapes, working on diverse projects that range from strategic masterplans to detailed public realm designs. Your role will blend creativity, strategic thinking, and deep community engagement, ensuring every design is both inspiring and contextually resonant.

Your key contributions will include:

Collaborate & Innovate: You'll be an integral member of our dynamic project teams, working hand-in-hand with Project Leaders, Associates, Senior Associates, and Directors. Together, you will co-create and deliver visionary urban design solutions that define London's future, leveraging the diverse expertise within our multi-disciplinary environment.
Craft Compelling Visions: Lead the development of innovative design concepts, from initial strategic ideas to detailed technical information. You will bring complex urban visions to life through compelling visualisations, plans, and reports, ensuring they meet agreed project milestones and exceed client expectations.
Champion Design Excellence: Actively uphold and proactively shape our rigorous design and technical standards. You will be a guardian of quality, sustainability, and innovation, ensuring every output reflects our practice's unwavering commitment to creating exceptional urban spaces.
Lead with Knowledge: Continuously expand your expertise by researching and integrating cutting edge technical developments, sustainable practices, and evolving legislation. You will apply these insights to future proof our designs, influence best practice, and position us at the forefront of urban design thinking.
Foster Open Communication: Maintain transparent and proactive communication channels within your project team and with external stakeholders. You will provide regular, insightful updates on progress and collaboratively identify and resolve any emerging design or technical challenges, ensuring smooth project delivery.
Engage with Context: Immerse yourself in the rich fabric of London's urban environment through active participation in site visits. You will engage thoughtfully in project and stakeholder meetings, ensuring our designs are deeply grounded in reality, respond authentically to local context, and embrace the unique character of each place.
Cultivate Growth: Champion your own professional development and that of the team. You'll actively seek out training, workshops, and learning opportunities that fuel your passion for urban design, enrich our collective knowledge, and keep our practice at the cutting edge.
Embrace Leadership Opportunities: Seize opportunities to grow into leadership roles, including stepping up to deputise for a Project Leader. You will demonstrate your readiness to guide projects, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to the strategic direction of our urban design initiatives.
Adapt & Contribute: Thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment, embracing a diverse range of responsibilities that contribute to the overall success of our practice. You will play a key role in the delivery of exceptional urban spaces across London and beyond.
Connect with Communities: You will be a vital link between our designs and the people they serve. Actively participate in public engagement events, workshops, and consultations throughout the week and, on occasion, on weekends. Your commitment will help co-create inclusive, people centred urban futures that genuinely meet community needs.
Uphold Responsible Practice: Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to excellence and responsible practice by diligently adhering to the practice's quality, environmental, and management system (Q&EMS) procedures.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for highly motivated and creative urban designers, who are eager to contribute to a collaborative and innovative environment. Your passion for shaping vibrant cities will be matched by your strategic thinking and ability to bring complex ideas to life.

To thrive in this role, you will ideally possess:

Proven Experience: Demonstrated urban design experience (typically more than 5 years for senior level), contributing to and supporting the delivery of projects from concept to completion, ideally within a multi-disciplinary practice.
Design Aptitude: Strong aptitude for urban design principles and placemaking, capable of translating concepts into clear, buildable solutions.
Sustainable & Social Awareness: A commitment to sustainable and inclusive design, eager to participate in and support community engagement processes that create positive social impact.
Academic Foundation: A relevant degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related spatial design discipline.
Contextual Understanding: A strong understanding of urban development processes and policy frameworks relevant to London, with a desire to deepen this knowledge.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in core design software (, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, GIS).
Clear Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, capable of clearly articulating design concepts and contributing effectively to presentations and reports.
Business Awareness: An awareness of the commercial realities of urban development and a desire to understand project viability and client needs.
Collaborative Spirit & Organisation: A proactive, highly organised team player, eager to contribute to a collaborative environment, manage tasks effectively, and meet deadlines under direction.
Professional Development: A genuine commitment to continuous professional development, contributing positively to team culture, and upholding the highest professional standards.
