We are looking for a Server-Side Java/AWS Engineer to join a Full-Stack team in the Data Engineering division, embracing new ways of working (NWoW) within the Global Investments Financial Systems (GIFS) division.
We are rapidly expanding our European technology presence, offering an exciting opportunity to influence team direction and learn about Vanguard's Investment Management processes. The role involves working with Vanguard's funds data, utilizing leading technologies in Cloud Native architecture, including Java (Spring Boot), AWS services (IAM, S3, ECS, EMR, Lambda, Athena, DynamoDB), and Python.
The team employs agile methodologies and operates a continuous delivery pipeline, deploying daily. Vanguard is one of the world's largest investment management companies, managing around 380 funds and ETFs across 19 locations with approximately 18,800 employees.
We are also seeking a Server-Side Python/AWS Engineer for the same team and division, with similar responsibilities and opportunities for growth. The projects focus on Investment Product Data Engineering, Data and Workflow Management.
Key requirements include experience with Java micro-services for enterprise-scale solutions, a strong understanding of AWS core services, and familiarity with Python micro-services is preferable. Knowledge of the buy-side and equities is advantageous but not essential.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills, capable of testing and documentation, and possess excellent communication skills, given daily interactions with business stakeholders.
In this developer role, you will:
* Deliver new solutions, review specifications, liaise with end users, and provide support.
* Build expertise in best-practice solution design and implementation.
* Follow code and documentation standards, including peer reviews.
* Manage multiple projects effectively under pressure.
What it takes:
* Experience in Test Driven Development, Java, and Spring Boot.
* Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
* Knowledge of build/deployment/testing tools like Git/Bitbucket, and logging tools like Splunk.
* Knowledge of SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL.
* Experience with Python data engineering libraries like Pandas.
* Understanding of investment management domain, with strong analytical and communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate across teams and deliver under deadlines.
* Familiarity with agile practices, JIRA, and Confluence.
