Do you want to work for an organisation that makes a difference? Waythrough are about giving people fair chances to succeed in life.
Who are Waythrough....
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
The role:
This exciting volunteer role would suit someone with an empathetic, open-minded attitude who can built strong working relationships with others as part of a holistic approach to improving overall health and wellbeing of the people we support. A Drop In Support Volunteer will attend the service frequently to engage with the staff and people the service supports, supporting the staff during Crisis Drop In hours by listening to people that attend and offering them a drink or snack.
Tasks may include:
· Being a friendly face and welcoming those who attend the service
· Offering a listening ear to people who are attending the service’s Crisis Drop In
· Supporting staff during Crisis Drop In hours, having discussions with people accessing the service whilst they wait for a staff member to be available, offering a drink or snack to people accessing in the meantime
· Promoting and signposting activities available in the wider community
· Identify and report any concerns or risks to the Duty staff or Duty Manager within the building
· Engaging with the people who access the service and encouraging their mental wellbeing, including signposting where applicable
