Purpose of job
As a Data Systems Engineer in our Data & Systems Team, your will be responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
1. Data Analysis
2. Data Manipulation
3. Data Processing using ETL / ELT techniques
4. 3rd line support for internal and third-party systems
5. DBA tasks
6. Database deployments
Accountabilities
7. Works with members of the Data and Systems team to implement solutions and deployments.
8. Works with fellow team members to instil a culture of continuous improvement across the team and within data related system design and development.
9. Ensures that own technical knowledge is industry standard and up to date.
The candidate
10. Data related qualifications or relevant field experience
11. Track record of implementing successful ETL/ELT processes
12. A strong understanding of data and analytical processing technologies e.g. Transactional databases, SQL server, various cloud platforms and services
13. Good understanding of RDMS and in particular SQL Server 2016 and above.
14. Good understanding of APIs and experience of using 3rd party APIs to integrate systems.
15. Knowledge of key technologies and frameworks required by the data solution delivery pillar e.g. Azure data factory, event hubs and data bricks
16. Good understanding of Agile methodologies.
17. Track record of demonstrating analytical skills.
18. Track record of problem solving / logical issues resolution.
19. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
20. Strong organisational / time management skills.
21. Effectively manage multiple priorities.
22. Be able to travel as necessary, and perform additional job-related duties as requested.
23. Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
24. Positive and enthusiastic approach to team work.
25. Highly analytical.
26. Self-motivated, ability to use initiative and provide pro-active support to users.
27. Commitment to ongoing learning and development.
