Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition
Element has an opportunity for a Lead Fuel Cell Test Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Bristol, UK.
Element Group specializes in battery safety, performance testing, and failure analysis across industries such as automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, medical devices, wearables, and other applications.
Preferred focus in electrical, electrochemical, or mechanical engineering
Responsibilities
1. Oversee, manage, and conduct on-site testing of customer-provided products based on standards or specifications, including understanding designs and schematics, validating project scope, setting up equipment, scripting tests, and delivering results.
2. Provide technical and engineering leadership, supporting the development of new technologies and test setups for custom fuel cell testing requests.
3. Support multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring accurate and timely release of testing data and customer sign-offs.
4. Oversee routine technical problem-solving activities.
5. Communicate project status and test results to customers, the commercial team, and management, providing ongoing technical support.
6. Support business development with new or existing customers, including facility and equipment specifications.
7. Set up and operate standard testing equipment across sites, including fuel cell stacks, test controllers, temperature/humidity chambers, power supplies, etc.
8. Assist in the professional development, upskilling, and training of technicians and engineers within local laboratories.
9. Leverage internal and industry knowledge to reach testing conclusions.
Skills / Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or testing-related field, preferably in electrical, electrochemical, or mechanical engineering.
2. Knowledge of safe testing with hydrogen, compressed gases, fuel cell stacks, and systems.
3. Experience with fuel cell testing software is preferred.
4. Understanding of laboratory safety, assessments, safety systems, and quality management systems.
5. Self-motivated, adaptable, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
6. Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and customer service skills.
7. Ability to apply academic knowledge to fuel cell testing services.
8. Deep understanding of testing concepts, problem definition, data collection, and analysis.
9. Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle multiple variables.
10. Good understanding of fuel cell characterization, performance, and durability testing.
11. Experience operating tests and defining system specifications and control strategies.
12. Knowledge of customer and application lifecycle, operational safety, and disposal.
13. Ideally, previous training in high-voltage and compressed gases.
14. Experience with fuel cell stack and system design, testing, and reporting.
