Offer description

Summary

As the first point of contact for our visitors, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about Uppark House & Garden and what it has to offer based on visitor needs and interests, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract/duration: Fixed term contract until 30-Sep-26, with the possibility of extension

Hours/working pattern: This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible.

The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts. Uppark operates on a seasonal basis, opening to the public from 1 March to 30 September. During this period, we welcome visitors four days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.

Further details can be discussed at interview.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of a small, friendly team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for every visitor. And it’s an exciting time to join us at Uppark as we reopen with a new way to visit the house and free access to the gardens, so there will be plenty to be involved in and to share with visitors.

We believe in the power of a warm welcome. Whether it’s offering helpful information, or simply being present, your contribution helps ensure that every visitor leaves with a smile – and a desire to return to this very special place.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience, from key property events to social media promotion - no two days are the same.Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service. You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
