Job title: Schemes Underwriter - PI
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 DOE

Purpose of role
* Lawes Consulting is currently working with a well-regarded insurer who is looking to appoint a Schemes Underwriter to support the continued growth of their Professions Sector portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work across an established panel of scheme partners, delivering high-quality underwriting and broker service while contributing to wider underwriting strategy and portfolio development.
Responsibilities
* Underwrite and manage schemes business, including referrals and more complex risks
* Deliver excellent service to scheme partner brokers and manage key relationships
* Support the profitable growth of the schemes portfolio alongside the Sector Lead
* Challenge existing approaches and contribute to growth and portfolio strategies
* Stay up to date with emerging risks and market developments within the Professions Sector
* Take ownership and accountability for underwriting decisions within your remit
Experience
* Previous underwriting experience in a similar PI role
* Confident decision-maker in complex or challenging underwriting scenarios
* Strong relationship management, influencing, and negotiation skills
* Dip CII qualified or working towards, ideally
* Comfortable making underwriting recommendations outside of authority (or keen to develop)
* Keen to develop specialist expertise within a professional lines environment
* Open-minded, commercial, and comfortable with innovation and informed risk-taking
