Overview
Role: Qualified Speech and Language Therapist (Paediatric) based within Vale Royal, part of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be working with children and young people in community settings and clinics, completing assessments and intervention for a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. You will be an integral part of the paediatric team, collaborating with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues and other professionals. The Trust supports CPD and development opportunities to aid personal and professional progression.
About the service: The post is based within Vale Royal, in a service that collaborates across the Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) and supports community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

Responsibilities
* Provide assessment, diagnosis and appropriate speech and language therapy intervention for clients referred to the service in line with RCSLT Communicating Quality 3.
* Manage a defined caseload independently and prioritise tasks with minimal supervision.
* Make decisions about discontinuing management of a client and communicate reasons to relevant professionals and client/carers promptly.
* Identify needs for clinical support and seek guidance from more senior clinicians to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Work closely with appropriate agencies and colleagues to ensure comprehensive client management, including potential reports for Statutory Assessment of SEND and undertaking Annual Reviews as appropriate.
* Provide information, advice and support to clients and their carers; give and request second opinions when appropriate.
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings as required and stay up to date with current practice under the direction of senior clinicians.
* Arrange placements for Speech and Language Therapy students and supervise assistants and volunteers as required.
* Support newly qualified Speech and Language Therapy students as appropriate.
* Participate in developing innovative practice with senior clinicians and undertake activities to improve service effectiveness.
* Develop clinical expertise under direction and in consultation with senior clinicians and keep up to date with clinical and technological advances; provide training as appropriate.
Qualifications
Essential: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy; HCPC Registered.
Desirable: Appropriate Postgraduate Qualifications.
Experience and skills
Essential: Evidence of paediatric assessment and treatment skills; experience with school-aged children; experience in settings including early years, clinics and schools; experience in caseload management; knowledge of SEND.
Desirable: Experience as a student mentor.
Values and requirements
Essential: Demonstrated understanding of MCHT behaviours and values; car driver.
