Offer description

Headteacher for The Linden Centre Key Stages 1 to 3 Pupil Referral Unit & SEMH Specialist Provision Scale: Leadership 15 – 20 Pre-application visits, by appointment Monday 20th April, Wednesday 29th April Closing Date: 5th May 2026 Interviews: 18th May 2026 The management committee is seeking to appoint a new headteacher who has the drive, creativity and exceptional skills needed to build on the ‘good’ provision at the Linden Centre and drive forward the next stages of development. The Linden Centre operates across 4 sites, providing intervention (AP) for both primary and Key Stage 3 (24 spaces) as well as primary and secondary SEMH SEND Hubs (36 spaces). The successful candidate may come from either a primary or a secondary background, what is more important to us is that they have the leadership skills and personal attributes to lead this special and unique school. The Linden Centre is already highly successful and seen as a beacon of good practice locally and nationally. We are, therefore, looking for a leader who can build upon this success and take the centre forward even further. At the heart of the school, and fundamental to its success, is a culture of nurturing and an understanding of the needs of the students in their care. With this in mind, the management committee is looking for a leader who is able to inspire staff and gain their confidence, a leader who believes in the potential of young people and sets aspirational standards both academically and in all other aspects of their well-being. As a centrally employed teacher and leader, the Headteacher of the Linden Centre will also play a central role as part of the Alternative Provision Service. Building on the partnership with schools, developed under the Belonging Strategy, to support young people across the borough and advise schools on strategies to support inclusion. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Fair Access Panels; support the work to reduce suspensions and exclusions across the Borough; and contribute to the strategic overview so that all young people in the borough develop that sense of belonging and are enabled to thrive.
