Client Finance Accountant
Location: Cheltenham
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated accountant to join our Client Finance team. In this role, you will deliver professional accounting services to our clients, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with deadlines. You'll work collaboratively within an inclusive environment and play a key role in maintaining high standards of financial control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain client records and reconcile ledgers.
2. Prepare management accounts, consolidate financial reports, and complete regulatory returns.
3. Produce statutory accounts and assist clients during audits.
4. Process, review, and approve journals and reference data on the ledger.
5. Approve payments within delegated authority and monitor outstanding invoices.
6. Monitor cash movements and balances, escalating issues as needed.
7. Process payroll on behalf of clients.
8. Liaise professionally with regulatory bodies, auditors, and clients.
9. Ensure policies, procedures, and controls are documented, followed, and updated.
10. Stay informed on regulatory changes and support controlled implementation.
11. Contribute to recruitment, training, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
12. Participate in additional projects and tasks as required.
Skills & Expertise
13. Experience preparing management accounts, annual reports, and financial statements.
14. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commitment to professional ethics.
15. Client-focused with excellent relationship-building skills.
16. Effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
17. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
18. Qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
19. Knowledge of general insurance finance and regulatory returns (desirable).
20. Familiarity with SUN/Q&A accounting software (desirable).
