The Saint John Henry Newman School is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join our team from September 2025 on a part-time, fixed-term basis. This role is ideal for a teacher looking for flexible working hours and an opportunity to contribute to an outstanding school community.

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will:
• Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4/5.
• Support the development and delivery of the department’s schemes of work.
• Undertake both formative and summative assessments in line with department policy.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to school-wide data collection.
• Participate in departmental training, INSET days, and extra-curricular activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Liaise with parents as required, including at Parent Consultation Evenings.
• Implement departmental policies on rewards, sanctions, and communication.
• Support and, where appropriate, help organise school trips and extracurricular activities.
• Uphold high standards of discipline and student welfare, following school procedures.
• Mark and assess students’ work regularly in line with school policy.
• Monitor student progress and address underachievement proactively.
• Contribute to departmental self-evaluation and school improvement initiatives.
Accountabilities
• Report to the Headteacher and the Leadership Team member overseeing your department.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support school values by discouraging discrimination and promoting positive self-image and equality.
Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities
• Promote and support the school’s policies on safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.
• Be fully aware of procedures relating to child protection and health and safety.
• Ensure child protection and student welfare are prioritised at all times.
• This role is subject to an enhanced DBS checkas part of the pre-employment process.
