In this role, you'll be working in a team where they lead the technical underwriting strategy and governance for the Commercial Property portfolio. It oversees complex referrals beyond branch authority and provides expert guidance and training to underwriters.This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds - working from home and spending time in our Reading office.Step into a role where your potential is valued and your growth is supported. What does a day-to-day look like?Lead the development of technical strategy, underwriting guidelines, and frameworks for the Property portfolio, including performance monitoring and reporting.Provide expert underwriting guidance and support profitable business development across the Property line.Recommend pricing, underwriting criteria, and product changes to ensure competitiveness and profitability.Ensure accurate application of underwriting rates and rules internally and externally.Maintain market awareness, monitor competitor activity, and provide technical updates and training.Collaborate across teams, lead projects, and act as a key technical referral point and subject matter expert.Do you have what it takes? Proven Property Underwriting leader with experience in both trading and head office roles within commercial insurance.Deep technical knowledge of Property risks, exposures, and underwriting practices.Skilled in assessing complex risks and making sound commercial decisions beyond standard authority levels.Strong financial and portfolio management understanding, with excellent analytical and communication skills.Experienced in writing underwriting guidelines, monitoring market developments, and driving change.Collaborative, proactive, and capable of mentoring talent and contributing to strategic initiatives.
