How youll make a difference
As Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination of passenger transport services for a range of clients including home to school transport and vulnerable young people or adults. By liaising with key contacts, you will ensure transport services run smoothly while meeting client needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
What you will be doing
* Assisting in the process of setting up the supply frameworks for the day-day provision of transport by external contractors, you will liaise and negotiate with service providers over contractual and operational matters.
* It will be your responsibility to schedule transport, optimising routes and timing to use resources efficiently and meet client and customer requirements.
* Working with stakeholders and operators, you will deal with transport issues, such as failure of service due to sickness or transport breakdown, and will make arrangements for alternative or replacement services to be delivered.
* It will be key for you to research and source specialist equipment for individual requirements, such as car seats, harnesses and wheelchair transport, and ensure appropriate training is provided.
* You will assist in the investigation of accidents and reported incidents on provided transport, including issues relating to the safeguarding of transport users, and will carry out pro-active monitoring of technical and contract conditions.
What we need from you
* We require you to hold an HNC/HND or equivalent in a transport coordination transferrable subject or NVQ Level 3 CILT Transport Coordinator or have equivalent relevant work experience.
* It is essential that you have have experience in working in a transport related field, ideally involving passenger transport provision and have knowledge of transport related legislation and regulations, particularly relating to passenger transport services.
* With experience of working with external contractors and organisations, you will have a strong customer focus alongside good team working and interpersonal skills.
* It is key that you are able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines to deliver front line operational services.
* You will possess good IT skills, with experience of using mainstream Microsoft Office programmes and more bespoke transport IT systems such as Capita.
