Branch Merchandising Assistant (FTC) role at New Look.

The Role
This is a 6 month fixed term contract. The Branch Merchandising Assistant is responsible for the allocation and replenishment of stock to our stores and website. You will own specific product areas across our range, becoming an expert in the systems required to place stock into the most commercial location to maximise profitability and minimise markdown.
You’ll work closely with an Assistant Branch Merchandiser (ABM), external functions such as Merchandising, Distribution Centre and Retail teams and a team of peers to ensure the stock package of our stores and website is optimised. You’ll become proficient in specialist systems to get stock to stores whilst monitoring the performance of your product areas against a number of key performance indicators.
The Branch Merchandising Assistant role is an exciting, fast-paced product-facing position that provides a foundation for a career in Retail, including Branch Merchandising, product Merchandising and eCommerce planning/trading.
What you’ll be doing
 * Responsible for the allocation and replenishment of multiple product categories across both stores and eComm, ensuring stock is distributed in the most efficient and commercial way.
 * Uses specialist systems to set up all allocations and manage replenishment parameters. Configures these systems to deliver required results and troubleshoots where required.
 * Aware of weekly product performance for relevant product categories and can discuss in weekly meetings with the wider Branch Merch and Space Planning team.
 * Utilises the Supply Chain booking diary daily; monitors when stock is due to arrive and ensures stock is sent to stores quickly.
 * Plans workload with awareness of future intake, supports peers to manage high intake periods.
 * Monitors performance at line level, works with managers and product teams to identify opportunities to adjust stocks commercially.
 * Manages strategic release of product when seasonally appropriate and maintains visibility of stock held via spreadsheets.
 * Monitors online stock performance and optimises stock offers by replenishing where appropriate; understands online trading indicators such as cover and availability.
 * Attends weekly Distribution Review meetings with product Merchandising teams to agree distribution requirements; prepares coherent and commercial allocation requests.
 * Maintains strong communication with internal and external stakeholders and acts as primary contact with product teams.
 * Reviews best and worst sellers weekly to ensure stock replenishment aligns with performance, with guidance from ABM and product teams.
 * Oversees stock clearance ahead of sale events with a strategic plan to clear stock within sale periods.
 * Plans and allocates stock for new and relocated stores, monitors progress and escalates concerns as needed; ensures replenishment parameters respond to sales when stores open.
 * Supports visual merchandising by allocating stock to model store VM setup and actioning product team requests to ensure timely store delivery.
 * Monitors weekly intake and distribution targets and track product category performance against target.
 * Produces weekly store performance reporting for product teams and collaborates with Branch Merchandisers on action for best-performing stores.
 * Confidently refreshes and analyses data from Business Objects reporting system.
 * Processes all product team allocation requests in a timely manner.
 * Works with hybrid/flexible arrangements and enjoys a balance of office collaboration and independent work from home and the London office.
Who you are
Minimum level of education or qualifications
 * Mathematics GCSE grade C or above
 * Educated to degree level advantageous but not essential
Essential skills/knowledge
 * Computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and comfortable with new specialist systems
 * Analytical approach – interest in working with data to inform ways of working
 * Numerate; comfortable working with numbers and data
 * Pro-active; self-motivated and able to work independently
 * Attention to detail
 * Team player with effective communication across internal and external teams
 * Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
 * Initiative and problem-solving skills; solution-focused
 * Retail experience essential, in-store or Head Office, with strong commercial awareness
