Job Title: Small Works Plumber / Water Hygiene Engineer
Salary: Flexible depending on experience
Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Annual Leave: 25 days per annum
Role Overview
We are working on behalf of our client, a well-established compliance and water management specialist, who is seeking an experienced Small Works Plumber to join their growing team.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of water management and Legionella control services, ensuring full compliance with current legislative and regulatory requirements across client sites.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and supporting water management and remedial plumbing works, including:
Providing technical advice and guidance to team members and site operatives in relation to Legionella and water hygiene legislation
Undertaking small remedial plumbing works, including:
Dead leg removal
Tank painting and replacements
TMV servicing and replacements
Pipe lagging
Point-of-use water heater replacements
Installation of Chlorine Dioxide units
Softener servicing (training provided)
Installation of telemetry units
Calorifier inspections (visual and endoscopic)
Calorifier blowdowns
Expansion vessel flushing
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks
Carrying out cleaning and chlorination of domestic water systems and cooling towers
Managing and supervising heating and chilled water closed system analysis
Producing detailed technical reports
Maintaining and programming building compliance records
Obtaining and providing quotations/tenders for small remedial works
Visiting corporate client sites and building strong working relationships
Ensuring site records are accurately maintained and validated
Complying with Legionella Control Association requirements
Undertaking works in accordance with HSG 274 Parts 1–3
Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety
Essential Skills & Experience
NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing (or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG 274 and current Legionella legislation
Thorough understanding of environmental and water hygiene legislation
Awareness of Legionella Control Association standards
Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
Experience working with corporate accounts and commercial clients
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to work away from home during the working week when required
Desirable Experience
Experience in chemical and biological water sampling
Knowledge of closed system water analysis and treatment
Experience evaluating water chemistry within closed systems
Asbestos Awareness training
Confined Space training
Experience working in environments requiring personal accountability
Flexible approach to working hours
Essential Qualifications
City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing (or equivalent)
City & Guilds Legionella Control and Management
Unvented Cylinder Installation and Maintenance
Desirable Qualifications
City & Guilds qualification in Evaporative Cooling Tower Operation / Risk Assessment
CSCS Card
WMS Risk Assessment or equivalent water management qualification
Confined Space certification
Asbestos Awareness certification
