Job Title: Kitchen Assistant at HC-One
In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: Kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every single person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. By joining HC-One, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to give something back to those people.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that our residents will love. You'll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, showing new starters how to use equipment, or cleaning spilled food from inside the oven, you'll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.
HC-One is looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience. Ideally, you will have an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or be willing to study for one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or co-workers, you should be considerate and kind.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect, and know the procedures to follow if concerns arise. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training suitable for their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should also be proactive in seeking advice and reporting concerns, including escalation if necessary.
We will provide full training, offering you the chance to learn new skills. In return, you'll enjoy a variety of benefits and support to promote your physical and psychological wellbeing. Our additional support includes:
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG check
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days of annual leave, including bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream for flexible access to your pay
* Learning and development opportunities, including qualifications
* GP online service for 24/7 consultations
* Access to over 1600 high street discounts
* Employee Assistance Programme for support on physical, mental, and financial issues
* Recognition schemes such as 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer-a-Friend scheme offering up to £1000 per successful referral
We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
