This role will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day operation of public transport infrastructure and information at bus stops facilities on the highway network including Chester Bus Interchange, Park & Ride sites, and Ellesmere Port Bus Interchange. In addition to this, the team is responsible for delivering Chester Park & Ride service which complements the local bus services in Chester.

You will also contribute to:

1. Delivery of the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), including capital improvements to bus stop infrastructure
2. Maintenance and repairs at Chester Bus Interchange, Park & Ride sites, Ellesmere Port Bus Station, and all bus stops within the borough
3. Provision and up-to-date and accurate public transport information across the borough
4. Supporting local bus services and the concessionary travel consortium
5. Passenger surveys on our supported bus network

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity within the Strategic Transport Team for a Network and Infrastructure Officer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to support the Council’s work in planning, maintaining, and improving public transport across the borough and helping us to deliver schemes with our Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

This role will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day operation of public transport infrastructure and information at bus stops facilities on the highway network including Chester Bus Interchange, Park & Ride sites, and Ellesmere Port Bus Interchange. In addition to this, the team is responsible for delivering Chester Park & Ride service which complements the local bus services in Chester.

Accuracy, responsiveness, and excellent service are essential to ensuring customers, operators, and partners receive reliable public transport information and high-quality infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have:

6. Experience working in a transport-related environment
7. An understanding of the importance of accessible, reliable public transport and high-quality information
8. Good IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
9. Motivation, flexibility, and the ability to work independently
10. Confidence to identify and report highway defects or access issues that could impact public transport users
11. Strong written and verbal communication skills
12. This is an agile role, working from various locations but with a central base at Chester HQ. Daily work involves regular travel across the borough to repair infrastructure, install diversion notices on bus routes, and update information at bus stops, sometimes at short notice.

A full, clean driving licence is essential.
