Job summary

Job title: Sessional Driver & Marshal

Responsible: Senior Clinical Federated Services Manager

Location: Various locations across Sunderland

Salary: £17.27 per hour

Contract Type: Sessional

Hours: Zero hour contract

Main duties of the job

TheDriver & Marshal will be responsible for the safe operation andtransportation of the Community Health Bus to designated locations acrossSunderland. They will also support the setup, marshalling, IT setup, and smoothdelivery of clinic operations on-site. This dual role is crucial in ensuringboth the logistical and operational success of the mobile healthcare service,offering a welcoming and organised environment for patients and staff alike.

About us

Sunderland GP Alliance is excited to announce the launch of its newCommunity Health Bus, a mobile healthcare service designed to bring essentialmedical care to individuals who face challenges accessing traditional generalpractice services.

The state-of-the-art mobile unit is equipped with two clinical rooms, anexamination bed, and a vaccine fridge, ensuring a comprehensive range ofservices can be delivered. The bus is powered by solar energy, electrichook-up, or diesel, allowing it to reach even the most remote areas.

Having been in operation for a month, the Health Bus has primarilyfocused on supporting individuals dealing with drug and alcohol issues, as wellas those experiencing homelessness. However, there are plans to expand itsservices, with the potential to offer a wider range of diagnostic services inthe near future. Your role as driver/marshal will contribute to improvingthe health care services and access in Sunderland.

Job responsibilities

Thisis a sessional position, with shift availability managed via an online rotasystem. Flexibility is important, as shift patterns may vary depending onservice needs.

Safely drive andoperate the Community Health Bus to scheduled locations.

Recharge the electricvehicle as needed to ensure it remains operational.

Clean the vehicle atthe start and end of each shift, ensuring clinic rooms are ready for the nextshift.

Ensure the bus is setup and ready for the start of clinics.

Support the setup ofbasic IT equipment (e.g. laptops, printer, Wi-Fi) and report any issues torelevant teams promptly.

Perform basic vehiclechecks and report any maintenance issues.

Liaise with healthcarestaff to support smooth service delivery.

Act as a Marshalon-site, managing patient flow, providing directions, and assisting withqueuing and safety outside the bus.

Provide a friendly andprofessional presence when engaging with staff, patients, and the public.

Adhere to health andsafety protocols related to vehicle operation, site setup, and publicengagement.

Ensure mandatorytraining including CPR, Safeguarding adults and children, GDPR (IG) and sexualharassment is completed and renewed annually in line with company policy.
