Where you’ll work:
Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub-based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to attend OVO Connection events in person.
You’ll be assigned to the closest of our three hub offices: Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub offers accessible spaces for your laptop, designed to inspire and connect.

Teamworking for the planet
This role is within OVO’s Energy Markets and Optimisation (EMO) function, specifically in the Energy Margin area of the Future Energy team. We are experts in the energy market, providing insights into costs and revenues of energy retail.
This role in a nutshell:
You will be an expert in forecasting energy costs and revenues, collaborating with teams across OVO to provide insights on risks and opportunities. You will also engage with industry colleagues on topics like the retail price cap.
Your key outcomes will be:
* Develop an understanding of potential industry changes affecting costs and the price cap, working with Policy and Regulation teams to support OVO’s goals.
* Build relationships with external stakeholders (regulators, market operators, industry experts) to stay informed of upcoming changes.
* Represent OVO at industry events and meetings to support our mission.
* Collaborate with internal teams to share information, identify risks, and improve processes.
* Contribute to developing automated systems for forecasting and data sharing.
* Use analytical and statistical methods to create accurate forecast models.
You’ll be a successful Senior Energy Margin Analyst if you have / are…
* An analytical degree (Maths, Physics, Engineering, etc.).
* 2+ years experience in an analytical role within energy.
* Commercial awareness and ability to communicate at a senior level.
* Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a fast-paced environment.
* Quick learner with attention to detail.
* Self-motivated, team player.
* Effective communicator across stakeholders.
* Experience with tools like BigQuery, Tableau/Looker, Python, Github, Airflow, or eagerness to learn them.
* Experience in cost or price cap forecasting.
* Proficiency in SQL and Python libraries like Pandas and NumPy.
