Job Description:
We are currently looking for an experienced Energy & Carbon Reduction Manager to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the provision of specialist services overseeing the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of energy, sustainable development, carbon reduction, and climate change adaptation across the Council and Neath Port Talbot in general. Deliver policy and outcomes for the Council on energy management, carbon reduction, and sustainability, and develop local and national partnerships. The Energy and Carbon Reduction Manager will oversee a team of multidisciplinary staff within the Decarbonisation, Energy, and Climate Change (DECC) function of the Authority.
The main duties include:
1. Leading the Council’s Carbon and Energy Reduction Section on energy, carbon, and water management to achieve net zero.
2. Designing, developing, and delivering energy, sustainable development, carbon reduction, and climate change schemes, ensuring compliance with requirements.
3. Reviewing and improving service delivery through innovative solutions.
4. Implementing the Council’s energy and carbon reduction programs to meet the Net Zero Carbon Public Sector goal by 2030.
5. Advising on initiatives, strategies, and policies to reduce organizational carbon footprint and influence broader carbon reduction efforts.
6. Developing and managing energy, carbon audits, and surveys for the Council’s buildings.
You will have experience in:
* Energy, environmental, or renewable energy sectors.
* Delivering successful energy, carbon, and renewable projects.
* Addressing climate change with stakeholder engagement.
* Writing reports, strategies, business cases, and providing technical advice.
* Securing funding through bids and investment cases.
* Knowledge of Welsh/UK policies on net zero and current legislation.
* Financial principles related to projects, procurement, and contracts.
Ideally, you will be:
* Educated to degree and master’s level in a relevant field.
* Chartered Energy or Engineering Status or working towards it.
* Committed to CPD and professional membership (desirable).
