Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Engineer to lead and support Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across their UK operations.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with UK Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 standards.
* Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits, identifying hazards and ensuring effective corrective actions.
* Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and reporting, ensuring lessons learned are shared and acted upon.
* Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and safety inductions for employees and contractors.
* Support project managers and engineering teams in implementing safe systems of work (SSoW) and permit-to-work systems.
* Monitor and analyse HSE performance metrics (KPIs), preparing reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
* Liaise with external stakeholders, regulators (HSE, Environment Agency), and auditors to maintain compliance and certifications.
* Promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention, environmental stewardship, and wellbeing.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
* 4 to 10 years of HSE experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or energy sectors within the UK.
* Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and industry best practices.
* NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Chartered Membership, or equivalent qualification preferred.
* Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to influence at all levels and promote a zero-incident safety culture.
