We are looking for a suitably experience and qualified person for a permanent position within Stockton Borough Council Procurement Services.
Main duties of the role are managing, supporting, training and guiding a team of six procurement officers to ensure the work programme relating to council contracts is delivered on time and in accordance with procurement legislation and the council’s own contract procedure rules.
Objectives include Supporting Effective Strategic Procurement / Delivery of tender management plan (re-procurement of existing contracts), procurement of new contracts / monitoring legislative changes / work related to new tendering system / performance reporting.
You must have a sound knowledge of, and experience of working within public sector procurement legislation – specifically Public Contracts Regulations 2015, Procurement Act 23, and Provider Selection Regime. The candidate will need to provide advice and guidance to staff and other officers across the council in relation to compliant tender procedures, so a thorough knowledge is essential. Experience of managing staff would be preferred.
You will need to be educated to degree level in a directly relevant subject area and hold membership of relevant professional body, or equivalent demonstrable level of knowledge gained through substantial demonstrable relevant work related experience.
