Vacancy Overview:
We are currently seeking nine Spare Engineers to join our client's team based in Bristol and Bridgwater, with potential work at the Hinkley Point C (HPC) site when required. This hybrid role offers a combination of remote and in-office work.
As a Spare Engineer, you will collaborate with a team to deliver parts of the Spares Engineering Work Scope, including developing spares strategies for HPC systems, managing obsolescence, standardising spares strategies, and ensuring efficient procurement of spare parts. You will coordinate with various stakeholders and other disciplines to deliver projects.
Nature and Scope:
The Spare Engineer is a key member of the CommOps Supply Chain Team within the HPB CommOps Department Maintenance Programme, overseeing maintenance strategies and operational activities for HPC.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Produce technical reviews and recommend procurement of spare parts for mechanical, electrical, and I&C equipment, presenting to stakeholders for endorsement.
* Manage equipment obsolescence, develop engineering solutions, and recommend procurement during the project phase.
* Develop and implement processes for business operations during projects and plant operation.
* Oversee procurement of strategic spares, produce technical reports, and support manufacturing processes through attendance at FATs and RRMs.
* Manage the standardised spares list to ensure timely delivery aligned with project needs.
* Maintain relationships with HPC departments, EPR Family Stations, and EDF Energy's Nuclear Business.
* Research and promote the application of operating experience from other industries.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Relevant experience may be from industries outside nuclear.
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or related field.
* Minimum one year of similar role experience.
* Ability to travel occasionally to supplier and client facilities.
* Self-motivated with responsibility-taking ability.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Proficiency in Excel.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and reports.
* Experience in procedure development and project environments.
* Experience with diverse UK and international suppliers and customers.
* Strong report writing skills, especially for technical business cases.
