Pharmacy Technician Higher Level-Medicines Management
Position Overview
We are recruiting a Pharmacy Technician Higher Level Medicines Management to work within the Pharmacy Department of East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust. The role focuses on providing high‑quality patient care through medicines management on designated wards and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the development and delivery of the medicines management process on wards.
* Train pharmacists, pre‑registration trainee pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, junior pharmacists, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals in medicines management.
* Carry out general dispensing, drug distribution and associated pharmaceutical duties across the Trust.
* Act as an NVQ assessor for pre‑registration trainee pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers where appropriate.
* Support medicines reconciliation and other in‑house procedures through full training.
* Participate in working patterns including late nights until 6:30, a weekend rota and bank holidays as per the rota.
Qualifications / Training
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent.
* Registered with GPhC as a technician.
* An accreditation in Medicines Management and National certificate in Medicines Management.
* NVQ Assessor accreditation.
Experience & Skills
* Experience of dispensing drugs for patients and providing advice to patients and carers.
* Training skills and proven ability to undertake audit and projects.
* Excellent organisational, communication and supervisory skills.
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems including JAC, Lorenzo and other robot systems.
