Practice Education Facilitator

To be responsible for ensuring students are prepared for placement before entering intoSWASfT and for supporting/guiding/point of contact for practice educators (PE's).Be responsible for ensuring PE's are prepared, updated and supported in collaborationwith the SWASfT CPD team and academic program leadsBe responsible for ensuring students are prepared for placement setting through thedelivery of central and local inductions.To support and achieve local practice placement priorities and NHS England (formallyHealth Education England) Key performance Indicators (KPIs).To support the Practice Placement Education (PPE) Team in identifying and co-ordinatingthe placement of university degree students in various settings across the organisation tosupport practice-based learning and the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledgenecessary to become a confident and competent registered Paramedics at completion oftheir academic programme.


Main duties of the job

This is highly visible role within learning and development, providing practice placementeducation and support to ensure high quality, safe student placement is achieved. There are several areas by which the role can be separated into.NHS England Formally HEE)Review student feedback from National Education and Training Survey which inform wider student satisfaction and share with the departmental managers to celebrate good feedback and address any concerns arising, escalating where appropriate.Engage in work streams that meet National priorities and challenges as directed by line managers.Partake in provider and external stakeholder meetings to gain wider understanding and knowledge of system-based working and priorities.Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs)To attend meetings in both academic and healthcare settings to strengthen practice education and student support processes. Taking forward actions in conjunction with relevant teams, departments both internally and externally to the organisation.To attend events at HEI's providing an opportunity to promote SWASfT as a placement provider for paramedic academic programs. As well as an employer that embraces preceptorship, understanding the importance of a smooth transition into autonomous practice.

Job responsibilities

The Practice Education Facilitator is expected to be visible to the wider workforce, specifically all Practice Educators, and work directly in collaboration with our partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), providing proactive positive opportunities for engagement.

Facilitate discussion groups and deliver training to staff and students across the Trust, promoting evidenced based practice and assisting in the development of new and improved practice-based learning.Provide a flexible approach to provision of support where it cannot reasonably be achieved in normal working hours or in the workplace.Promote Equality & Diversity and a non-discriminatory culture.Identify and take action when other peoples behaviour undermines Equality and Diversity.Liaise with NHS staff, educational coordinators, practice leads and programme teams, building and strengthening relationships between the Trust and the educational and placement providers.To maintain own CPD to ensure quality and credibility to the role.

Person Specification


Education and qualifications

* Relevant BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent such as an apprenticeship or diploma and working towards a relevant post-graduate level qualification such as MSc.
* Mentorship level 7 or working towards.
* Award in Education and Training or higher or working towards
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the Trust as required
* Substantial experience in an Ambulance Service or equivalent.
* Management or Clinical Leadership qualification


Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)

* Knowledge and experience of working in a healthcare setting as an AHP or other equivalent experience.
* In depth knowledge and experience in own professional field and willingness to develop knowledge of other professions
* Experience and knowledge of principles of teaching and learning.
* Experience of delivering project work and identifying improvement initiatives.
* Previous experience working within a healthcare setting
* Proven experience and skills in leading on projects in a complex organisation requiring high level of collaboration and motivation of others.


Skills, knowledge, ability

* Computer literate with a working knowledge of word processing, databases and spreadsheet packages including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Knowledge of GRS or a similar scheduling system
