Overview
Band 7 Systemic Family Therapist – Chippenham. An exciting opportunity to work in Working Age and Later Life secondary mental health services in Wiltshire. The post holder will provide specialist, evidence-based therapy to service users and their families, supported by secondary adult mental health services, based in the Wiltshire locality with a focus on equal access to service users. The role may involve developing systemic family therapy clinics in collaboration with Bath and Swindon, supervision, consultation and training to professionals, and contributing to the development of systemic thinking across care teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide a Family and Couples service to the specified Team/Service and support systemic thinking and anti-discriminatory practice.
* Assess and treat a specialist workload of clients and maintain associated records.
* Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and other developmental activities including training; undertake research and clinical audit.
* Support service provision of Systemic Family Therapy including assessment and therapy for families, individuals and groups as appropriate; provide a specialist consultancy service to multidisciplinary teams and other agencies.
* Participate in generic team duties as agreed with the operational manager and Psychology Lead; contribute to clinical and caseload supervision.
* Maintain accurate records and monitor clinical workload using agreed systems; ensure timely recording of all data required by the Trust.
* Support full implementation of Your Team, Your Conversation, Your Plan as appropriate to the client and act as keyworker where needed.
* Adhere to HCPC policies and the Association of Family Therapists (AFT)Code of conduct; contribute to local and Trust-wide policy development and multidisciplinary meetings.
* Provide training, supervision and consultation in Systemic Family Therapy to other staff; collaborate to develop training courses and supervise groups.
* Engage in service governance, multidisciplinary clinical audit, and share best practice across disciplines.
* Promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice in service delivery and employment; support staff wellbeing and flexible working where appropriate.
Qualifications
* Essential: Qualification and registration as a systemic family therapist; First degree and/or professional qualification in social work, nursing, psychology or equivalent; Postgraduate qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy; Registration (or eligibility) as a systemic psychotherapist with UKCP and meet AFT requirements.
* Desirable: Experience delivering supervision and training to other staff; driving licence and willingness to travel.
Experience and Skills
* Essential: Experience with people who have severe and enduring mental health difficulties; experience delivering systemic interventions; competence in risk/safety assessment and multidisciplinary team work; ability to work independently and creatively; strong communication and documentation skills; knowledge of systemic approaches and risk management.
* Desirable: Experience delivering supervision and training; knowledge of legislation affecting mental health practice.

* Effective team player with flexible, personable approach; excellent communication and liaison skills.
* Ability to work with complex, distressing clinical material; strong emotional resilience; ability to work independently; commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
* Willingness to travel (Desirable).
