About the Role
The Safety Engineer will be based at one of our sites in Barnstaple, Beckington, or Bristol, with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
* Develop Safety Management Plans and Safety Case documentation.
* Conduct risk identification, hazard analysis, and risk assessment.
* Create and maintain hazard logs, evidence gathering, and requirements validation.
* Ensure safety practices align with industry and customer requirements, assessed against legislation and standards.
* Utilize recognised safety methods, technologies, and tools throughout product and project life cycles.
* Liaise with internal and external customers across engineering and management teams.
* Generate and present safety status reports at defined project milestones and represent SEA in customer safety meetings.

Required Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a similar safety engineering role.
* Experience producing Safety Management Plans and Safety Case documentation.
* Experience conducting risk identification and hazard assessments.
* Experience creating and maintaining hazard logs, evidence gathering, and requirements validation.
* Experience in a defence‑contractor safety management environment, familiar with UK MOD ASEMS and Defence Standards 00‑056 & 00‑055; Mil‑Std 882 knowledge is a plus.
* Ideally trained to Ship Safety Management Organisation (SSMO) level or equivalent.
* Highly motivated to drive safety into new development programmes and engage with engineering teams early in design.
