Want to bring ideas to life?
If you’re in the engineering and transport planning world, you’ll know Aurecon. For decades, we’ve been a leading design, engineering, and advisory company. But why should you choose to join us?
Every project Aurecon delivers leaves a legacy. Sustainability is embedded in every decision we make. And each project is at the forefront of technical excellence.
Ultimately, it comes down to one key question: The decisions being made now will shape the future of our communities, our state, and the planet. One of those decisions is choosing the right place to build your career.
Our NSW & ACT Integrated Transport and Mobility Practice is an emerging leader in transport planning and strategic design across the region. We are seeking a Transport Planner to join our Sydney team.
In this role, you’ll contribute to major infrastructure projects across NSW, ACT, and interstate as needed. You’ll work with our established client base while bringing your own industry connections to help grow our reach and impact. Examples of projects we have delivered include reviewing regional public transport networks, developing active transport integration plans for new rail lines, and assessing multimodal access for new major developments.
Your role will include:
1. Assisting – and at times managing – the delivery of services in strategic transport planning, transport advisory, traffic engineering, and decarbonisation projects.
2. Supporting project management responsibilities, including direct client engagement.
3. Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams within Aurecon, both locally and nationally.
4. Helping shape the future of NSW’s transport networks with innovative, sustainable solutions. Contributing to business development and winning work.
Joining Aurecon means you’ll be part of an award-winning culture of innovation and sustainability.
5. Innovation & Sustainability: AFR ranks us Top 5 among sustainability leaders and Top 3 of all innovative professional services companies.
6. Recognition: We’ve received national and international awards for innovation, design, inclusion, and workplace culture.
What we’re looking for:
7. A relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience in transport planning (local or international).
8. Strong analytical skills, particularly for data-rich projects.
9. A passion for delivering sustainable and practical transport solutions.
10. Some project management skills – including resourcing, financials, and risk – with experience in project or deputy project roles an advantage.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate within the Integrated Transport and Mobility team.
12. A growth mindset, eagerness to learn, and drive to work alongside industry experts.
13. An inclusive and team-oriented approach, contributing positively to our culture and capabilities.
Our people are our strength. Together, we build shared purpose, bring ideas to life, and co-create with our clients to design a better future.
You’ll already know some of our work: Sydney’s new Allianz Stadium? That was us. The Tāmaki Regeneration in Auckland? Us as well. The Tseung Kwan O Interchange in Hong Kong? Also us.
When you join Aurecon, you’re not just joining a design, engineering, and advisory firm – you’re becoming part of a community tackling some of the most complex challenges facing NSW, Australia, and the world.
