A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's SE team as an Asset Inspector.
The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to the Scottish Borders. It includes routes such as the Edinburgh City Bypass and a large section of the M8 connecting Edinburgh to Glasgow.
Role Includes
1. Undertaking weekly driven Safety Inspections and Safety Patrols to record defects that pose hazards to the travelling public and, where safe, carrying out minor repairs.
2. Conducting walked condition inspections to visually assess asset conditions and identify defects for routine maintenance planning.
3. Performing desktop surveys and inspections to validate and update the asset inventory in the Transport Scotland Asset Management Performance System.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Previous road maintenance experience is preferable but not essential, as training and mentoring will be provided. Candidates must have good computer skills, as inspections are carried out using data capture devices syncing with Transport Scotland’s system. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is also beneficial. A full, approved driving license is essential.
