About the Role: One of my local government clienst is in their search for a Legal Compliance Officer with a strong background in data protection and information governance. This is a fantastic part-time opportunity for an experienced professional to support a busy Legal Services department in ensuring compliance with a wide range of statutory requirements and internal policies, particularly around Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), Subject Access Requests (SARs), and GDPR. Key Responsibilities: * Manage and respond to FOI and EIR requests on behalf of the Council. * Handle Subject Access Requests (SARs) in accordance with GDPR and DPA 2018. * Oversee internal and third-party personal data sharing processes. * Support compliance with the Council’s LEXCEL accreditation. * Process and monitor legal invoices in line with Council procedures. * Provide guidance and support to other departments on FOI and data protection matters. What We’re Looking For: * Experience handling FOI, SARs, and data sharing under GDPR. * Knowledge of relevant legislation: DPA 2018, GDPR, FOIA 2000, EIR 2004. * A proactive and organised individual, confident in managing statutory deadlines and liaising across departments. * Experience supporting Lexcel compliance or working within a regulated legal services environment is highly desirable.
