This role offers an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to ensure all electrical activities, provide technical guidance, and ensure statutory compliance across multiple flood & coastal risk management and Water, Land & Biodiversity assets. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various construction and design partners, acting as the knowledgeable point for the client and being part of the EA’s national network of senior engineers, supporting national electrical assurance and safety initiatives.
You will provide design and technical advice to ensure compliance with electrical legislation, British and European standards, and the EA’s codes of practice and procedures.
With several high voltage assets in the area, you will serve as the Senior Appointed Person (High Voltage). Experience and training with high voltage equipment are essential. Assessment will be conducted by the Environment Agency's appointed engineer. You will also join our group of HV engineers across the EA.
Your responsibilities include assuring staff technical capability, planning asset investments, and contributing to flood protection initiatives. You will be expected to respond to incidents, with full training provided, and this role includes additional compensation.
Work will be based in the MEICA Operations team covering Hertfordshire, North London, Kent, South London, and East Sussex. The team oversees MEICA projects and asset maintenance, providing technical support within your expertise.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Qualified and experienced in managing high voltage equipment, with appointment as a ‘Senior Appointed Person (SAP) High Voltage’ being a plus.
* Comprehensive knowledge of electrical legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience as a Subject Matter Expert in Electrical Engineering, providing advice and assurance on complex electrical works and designs.
* Experience managing electrical and instrumentation installations, including site work.
* Leadership in safety and technical investigations, promoting safety improvements.
* Strong influencing and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of CDM2015, H&S Regulations, BIM, and Asset Management systems.
* Chartered status with IET or IMECHE.

* Salary: £52,929 p.a., plus £9,750 for Chartered MEICA engineers. London weighting may apply.
