Overview
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Health Visitors to join our Healthy Child Programme. The role supports families, children and communities through home visits, support groups, safeguarding and multi‑agency collaboration.
Responsibilities
As a Health Visitor you will:
* Conduct home visits to assess and support families.
* Lead and run support groups for parents.
* Work closely with local children’s agencies and professionals.
* Participate in safeguarding and multi‑agency team work.
Training and Employment
Students will be aligned to a practice assessor in one of the footprint areas in the North East for a 52‑week training programme at Northumbria University (37.5 hours full‑time or 18.75 hours part‑time). The training is 50% theory and 50% practice. On successful completion and SCPHN registration with the NMC you will be guaranteed a health visiting post in the Trust.
Start date: 21‑Sep‑2026. Internal applicants must discuss secondment with the service manager; otherwise a fixed‑term contract is offered.
Qualifications
* First‑level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent.
* BSc in Nursing or Midwifery (2:2 or above) or completion of a RPEL portfolio at level 6 for those without a BSc.
* Knowledge of the Public Health agenda.
* Experience of community working (desirable).
