We are currently recruiting for Full time, Part time & Bank Support Workers to support an individual with Autism, learning disability, ADHD and Prader Willi syndrome in Bedale Area on a 2:1 basis. Please note we are not a recruitment agency. Please also note this role will also be involving transistioning work from Telford to Bedale to be fully settled into my new home. About the individual Hi! I am young adult in my ealy twenties and I have diagnoses of Prader Willi Syndrome, Autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. My behaviour has been described as challenging, although I think that sometimes people just see my difficulties and don’t work to understand me as a whole person. I can get anxious and frustrated when I find things difficult, but most importantly I am smiley, excitable, enthusiastic and loving. I have a great sense of humour and I enjoy making people laugh. I am extremely sociable; my family say that I have always made friends wherever I go, and manage to make everyone smile with my happy-go-lucky personality. I love the over-the-top glitz and glamour of show business: I enjoy talking about and going to see musicals, and my absolute favourite TV programme is Strictly Come Dancing (each year my dad takes me to the show’s live tour – this is the best night of my year!). I am happiest when singing or dancing, or when talking about my football team Manchester City. My family are really important to me, and I enjoy visits from my parents and sister, as well as extended family. My family have a dog who I love to talk about and cuddle with when he visits, and I also volunteer at a dog shelter where I enjoy walking the rescue dogs regularly with my staff. Day to day, I need to be kept busy, I like doing my dog walking, and I also enjoy youth clubs, discos, swimming, horse riding, going to the pub and bowling. I would like to look at more activities available for me and I need support workers who are enthusiastic to support me with these. My condition means that food is very important to me and my care, I need support workers that can keep boundaries with me around food to keep me safe. I do love cooking and every Sunday I cook a roast dinner for myself and staff – I like treating my staff and making them happy. I am very chatty and bubbly, and so my staff need to be able to give me the same energy back, and I love hugs. To be part of their team, they are looking for the following qualities from a team member: Trustworthy – it is really important to me that I can build strong relationships with those around me and that I am able to feel happy and cared for. My staff team is a second family to me. Kind - Able to form a trusting professional and friendly relationship – due to traumas in my life, positive and caring relationships with my staff are very important (I like to call them my other family) Outgoing, bubbly, smiley, funny, good sense of humour – I love ‘banter’ Compassionate but able to put in boundaries – it is important for my health and anxieties that my staff implement and maintain boundaries around food to keep me safe Structure and reliability – I need structure to allow me to feel safe and supported Communication – you need to be able to communicate with me and my family well. My family are very involved and I am very close to them, I want them to help you best support me in my new forever home. A good listener who is understanding and empathetic – I need someone to listen to my worries and views Proactive & Creative & Encouraging and enthusiastic – sometimes when I am not feeling great, I will need staff to encourage me to do activities -although I like time to relax, it is important I keep fit through things like walking and swimming Confident in working with me when times are hard and my anxiety is displayed through behaviours that challenge What's in it for you!? £250 when you introduce a Friend * Contract Great Pay Pension Enrolment Standard Sick Pay Free training Weekly pay Paid holiday Ongoing Training / Coaching throughout your role Opportunities to progress & develop Schedule: 12 hour shifts 08:00 - 20:00 / 20:00 - 08:00 Monday to Friday Weekend availability Overtime Licence/Certification: Mental Health or Autism (PREFERRED) Driving Licence (PREFERRED) Prader Willi Syndrome (PREFERRED) *Refer a friend bonus is payable at · £125 once the referred individual has successfully completed their first shift. · £125 once the referred individual has successfully completed their probation period.
